Did you try to pass to the webservice the human readable format, instead seconds?
Yep. Tried to send the human readable format like mm/dd/yyyy only and then tried mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss format as well like we see in the Remedy application's UI. Nothing worked.
And American way yyyy/mm/dd?
You need to check the format of date/time from the developer Studio at Windows->Preferences.There you can find the preconfigured exact format and try this.
As suggested I just used the same date format as found in our DEV studio preferences. Still getting the below error.
<faultstring>ERROR (8957): The date format is invalid; 10/5/2011 1:20:33 PM</faultstring>
Did anybody try to pass a value into a date/time field through webservices or are you just making me shoot in the dark?
Any other ideas highly appreciated.
Did you try the YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm:ss format?
The Date format in Tommy Dhondt's post is the correct format.
The T looks like a typo, but it isn't. The Cap T is the delimiter between the Date and the Time.
I use SoapUI for testing and just verified that this works.
So finally what format worked for you.
I am facing the same issue.

The format should be yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ
where T is the delimiter and Z is the Timezone offset.
