I am trying to entry some script in crontab, entry is done successfully, but won't execute on that time.
Anyone can please help me.
Well, that’s not exactly a BMC issue ☺
Anyway, can you post the crontab line and what you are expecting from that?
Have you checked the log under /var/cron/log? Are you sure the script doens’t just fail?
Are you using absolute paths to invoke the scripts and within the scripts?
Thanks for reply....
i am trying to entry in crontab through bladelogic....
please find the below script..
echo "17 17 * * * sh /InfraSun/scripts/sop.sh\n" >>/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root
echo "17 17 * * * sh /InfraSun/scripts/explorer.sh\n" >>/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root
I think you should do like:
Crontab > /tmp/foo
Echo “whatever” > /tmp/foo
I have tried which format u have provide me....but when i tried issue has ben resolved but all crontab entry nullify...
i just asking, can u plz tell me how can i add that entry..
Echo “whatever” >> /tmp/foo
The >> will append.
What is the "\n" intended for?

Put a crontab -l at the beginnning and at the end of your script for debugging purposes, so you can double check what you're doing
Is your goal to add this configuration entry to the crontab? Can you see the “/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root” configuration file through live browse?
On solaris you need to do as I noted, you can’t simply echo stuff into the file. on linux that does seem to work.
I think the correct format is...
Been there..seen that. You are struckling with cr/ln issues here.
Shouldn't this be solved by agent ...not the script? Ie. line feed chars are not depended where you write the script, but where you'll use it?
