Can you be more precise, if you want to disable the IBRSD integration with AR server or you want to disable CMDB integration with BEM?
I want to disable the integration between BEM and the CMDB because we don’t have a CMDB. When the admin installed the BEM application he selected the option that we had a CMDB, I want to make sure this is not causing any issue so I thought it would be best to disable this in the BEM application.
I did find a file called “cmdb.properties” which may be the file I need to modify, there is an entry for “om.bmc.sms.ixs.cmdb.enable.sync=true”
Do you know if this is the correct file to edit and change it to “om.bmc.sms.ixs.cmdb.enable.sync=false”
$ cat cmdb.properties
# This file defines the properties for CMDB communication
# "true" if this IAS will synchronize with the CMDB server.
# host name for AR server
# port number for AR server
# user id for AR server
Those settings aren't used anymore and they're now set at install time. The typical way to integrate now is via CMDB's UDDI API. I don't see a way to list the existing credentials (like you can with the BladeLogic settings) but you can set up or clear the integration using pw cmdb credentials.
You can check for traffic outgoing through port 7777 or 9999 to see if the server is attempting to connect to a CMDB.
The definitions in cmdb.properties are used by IAS to sync the following CMDB forms:
These forms are present in the CMDB when the SIM CMDB extensions have been installed.
To turn of the sync it's not enough to just set "com.bmc.sms.ixs.cmdb.enable.sync=false". Due to a bug you should also blank out "com.bmc.sms.ixs.cmdb.host.name".
Good points and explaination, Frank. The forms you've called out no longer exist in Remedy though and I'm not entirely certain they're really used either. SIM:CellInformation has changed its name to something like PN_CellInformation and SIM:CellAlias is now something like PN_CellAlias.
Also where these are referenced in IBRSD.conf (waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay at the end of the file) still references the old name of the form which doesn't exist and it doesn't seem to have any effect on the integration whatsoever.
it depends whether you integrate with SIM or BPPM.
For SIM you need to install the CMDB SIM Existions which creates (among other things) the forms:
For BPPM you need to install the CMDB BPPM Existions which creates (among other things) the forms:
Anyway, for IBRSD to work you need to have the proper CMDB extensions installed. The AR IBRSD module picks up the available cells from the CellInformation form.
Ah yes you're correct, I'm going on about BPPM IBRSD and the question is BEM/IBRSD.
