DB Migration Error from BSA v8.0.11.1111 to v8.2

Vijay Chaudhery

Hi,

I am migrating BSA v8.0.11.1111 to v8.2 ( windows2k8 based ) but getting error at the DB migration stage. Please find the attached migration log and kindly suggest.

FYI.. It’s my own testing Virtual ENV.

I think Bill and Girish replied on other thread. Some files maybe missing. Is that part fixed?

See if the files are present. Also check the md5sum of the externalfiles.zip that you are using for this and compare it with the actual one.

I also faced the same problem, try the below command and rerun the migration-worked for me

    delete from mig_task where task_script_name='CHECK_SP_FROM_XML_RUN_IN_DB_99999'

The problem here looks like it was missing files:

name(SPtsk_PATCH_CATALOG_UPDATE_JOB_DATATYPE_PROP_VAL_MODIFY_12058_Table_4_mig_chng_contnts_tbl_12058.sql) with an exception(java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\upgrade\8.1.0_to_8.2.0\OM\SQL_scripts\task_scripts\SPtsk_PATCH_CATALOG_UPDATE_JOB_DATATYPE_PROP_VAL_MODIFY_12058_Table_4_mig_chng_contnts_tbl_12058.sql (The system cannot find the file specified)) at(Tue Apr 24 07:30:17 EDT 2012)

com.bladelogic.mig.framework.common.MigException: java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\upgrade\8.1.0_to_8.2.0\OM\SQL_scripts\task_scripts\SPtsk_PATCH_CATALOG_UPDATE_JOB_DATATYPE_PROP_VAL_MODIFY_12058_Table_4_mig_chng_contnts_tbl_12058.sql (The system cannot find the file specified)

That would usually suggest there was a problem when initially unzipping the external files zip file. The next step there would be to unzip again and ensure there are no errors and that the above file is present.

In rare occasions BMC Support might guide you to perform a delete such as the below in order to allow the migration to recover but that should only be done with the guidance of BMC Support.

I think this problem was related to the installer not being correct. Some files were missing from the eexternal files folder.
