You simply need to export the form / view / filter / ACL (whatever) as usual.
In the .def you'll find the "base" and the "overlay" version, they are always both exported.
When you import the .def in the other server, you can import "only" the overlay version of the form/view/workflow if you wish "removing" the base elements using the "remove" button.
Else both "base" and "overlay" will be imported.
One more point to consider-
I think Import should be done in Best Practice Development mode only otherwise you will miss the overlays present in the def file and only their Base versions will be overwritten.
I understand you can export the form. And then import just the Overlay.
Is there a way to export just the overlay? The reason I ask is, on my team we have separation of duties. Meaning we (the dev team) writes a work instruction and assign it to the infrastructure team. The infrastructure team imports the object into production.
So we have to include in our work instruction, direction for the infra team to only import the overlay. Since, they don't understand Remedy very well, sometimes they don't perform their work correctly. I don't blame them, I think it's just a knowledge gap.
So I'm thinking if there was a way to export just the overlay, it would eliminate much of the confusion, and thus rework. Any thoughts?
(edit) I also understand I could edit the .DEF file and simply remove the section used for the base form. But I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require this extra step.
Thanks Laurent. Not the answer I was hoping for, but hey at least it's an answer!
