Application administration - custom tab - incident management - advanced options - incident management settings. There's a field there (customer and contact name format) where you can specify how to display the name. You can change it to First Name Middle Initial Last name.'

Thanks. There are so many windows I must have missed this one
Now we can change this there appears to be an inconsistency between the format for incident tickets and work orders. Is there another window to amend work order settings?

Not exactly the same as incident, but hopefully it does what you want...it has a "search type" and I don't know if that affects display or not...
