2. Advanced Mapping Option for SRD Variables
Umesh Sonar Mar 20, 2012 5:45 AM (in response to David Pine)Hi DHPINE,
The above form is "SRD:VariableMapping_AdvancedDialog". You can modify the field access mode to read/write and modify the mapping.
But better than that you can copy the mapping, modify it manualy, and then add it.

Hi,
shoot me PM or an email via the contact form on my site, I have a "SRD Quick Edit" tool available for just this purpose that I am about to release.
FYI: You cannot just edit the above field manually by changing permissions on the form as there are a number of underlying and supporting fields to the mappings i.e. One for user display, one for system evaluation of the mapping and variables.
Cheers

4. Advanced Mapping Option for SRD Variables
schsas NameToUpdate Mar 20, 2012 8:23 AM (in response to David Pine)Just in case BMC will answer to our prayers - I would also really appreciate some kind of quick editing!
And if we are just about to talk about those concatenated things - has anybody of you experienced some limitations of the field length? I once concatenated a lot of text and variables and it did not work properly until I shortened it. May somebody has the maximum field length for me?

Hi,
I will mention this again for clarity.
When you perform a mapping operation in SRM, there are 2 associated fields that hold the values that are used for the mappings. One is a user friendly version (which shows the field names, etc) that is shown when building/updating the mapping through the GUI, and the other holds the values of the question id's used in the mappings (system mappings).
Updating one does not just automatically update the other, thus why you have to fully rebuild the mapping from scratch when you need to add in additional fields/values.
So, if you are going to head down the path of updating a mapping without fully rebuilding the mapping, then you need to be aware that just updating just one of the mapping fields will not work as expected.
Cheers

12. Advanced Mapping Option for SRD Variables
David Pine Mar 28, 2012 1:13 PM (in response to David Pine)Thanks Carl. We finally got around to testing this and unfortunately it would appear as if your insight is correct.
While updating the Mapping Result field from the SRD:VariableMapping_AdvancedDialog form in Developer Studio did give us the ability to make edits directly to the advanced mapping form in question, the modified mappings (even field labels) were not reflected on the backend fulfillment application.
I suppose we will just need to pay special attention when creating these advanced mappings to minimize the need to go back and make corrections after the fact.
