    Error Code 1064

    Michael Aligbe

      Hello All,

We are trying to migrate from AR 7.1(Microsoft 2003 Server and SQL 2005 ) to AR 7.6.04(Microsoft 2008 Server and SQL 2008). We are doing this on a new server as we cant afford any form of downtime.

The plan was to take a copy of the ARSystem database from the SQL 2005 and attach to the SQL 2008. This worked from the SQL side but i cant get the AR Server to start. keep geting:

("Windows could not start the BMC Remedy Action Request System *Servername*  on local computer. For more information, review the system event log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1064).

      Please help.

      Regards,

      Myk.

          Hello all,

I decided to do another install to kind of repair the AR System. It worked. I did a new ARServer install and selected the "Upgrade".

At the end of the installation, i was able to login and apply the server licence but My Server information page is blank. The Home page doesnt even start when i login, i practically have to search for all the forms.

          Please assist me.

          Regards,

          Myk.

            Hi,

how are you accessing the system, by the User Tool or Browser?

7.6.04 is now almost a full browser based application.  The release notes and documentation for 7.6.04 has futher information on the differences.

As for you initial attempts to copy the DB, did you re-apply the correct permissions to the DB once you had restored.  A backup/restoration activity removes the permissions assigned to "ARAdmin" and these need to be restored before the ARServer process will be able to connect (as it uses the "ARAdmin" account to connect).  There are discussions surrounding this available on here.

            Cheers

            Carl

              Hi Mike,

For the server information form blank issue you can try below things:

Delete all the AR System Administartion forms

              e.g

              AR System Administration: Support Form;

              AR System Administration: Server Information;

              AR System Administration: License Review

Note:Take a back up for all the forms which you will be deleting.

After deleting these forms import the serveradmin.def file to your server. You can find this file in your ARinstall directory. Now check the server information form again.

                Hi,

I suggest you do not delete any of the system forms.

The Server Information uses a plug-ins to populate the information, therefore you need to correct the issue with the plug-in not the forms.

                Cheers

                Carl

                  Thanks People,

The issue has been resolved. After licensing the server i did another upgrade this morning all my forms are showing normally including the Admin forms.

I noticed that during the initial upgrade, the AR Server didnt install properly.

Carl, i ran the script that gave 'ARAdmin' the ownership of the ARSystem database.

                  I appreciate. Thanks again

                  Regards,

                  Myk.
