How to configure repeaters with BDSSA?

Samsung BSM

Hi All,

Could you please let me know how to install & configure new Agents & Repeaters with BDSSA?

If possible then also let me know specific significance of repeaters and in which scenario should we use this?

regards,

Samsung

A standard repeater is simply a server with both the NSH and RSCD agent installed. If the machine is running a Unix operating system, then the NSH installer can provide both at once.

The Repeater state is an Intrinsic Server Property IS_REPEATER. This means BladeLogic Console will note the target differently in its listings once it has been added to the list of Servers and it will be listed in the Infrastructure Management section for Repeaters.

The Administrative Tools chapter of the User Guide has a section, "Configuring servers to use repeaters during deployments". This provides the necessary Properties to set and the easiest way to set them.

Meanwhile an Advanced Repeater is actually its own separate product. It comes from the BladeLogic Client Automation (formerly Marimba) Repeater and can throttle transfer speeds to preserve bandwidth. BMC is making major revisions to this tool, thus we do not advise installing or implementing any Advanced Repeaters in 8.0 or 8.1 environments.

Now here how are you looking for repeater for BDSSA? The reporting of BBSA? Whats your objective here?

    thnx for ur gr8 advice.

im using bbsa8.0 sp3 on solaris with bdssa2.1

but now i want to use repeaters/adv repeaters so that i can preserver bandwidth of job transfer speeds for multiple target servers.

And with bdssa i can use out of box reporting for new added target server through repeaters implementation.

There was a defect in the 8.1 series ARS so we advise you do not use the ARS until version 8.2.  there are more details about the issue here: http://documents.bmc.com/supportu/documents/06/07/210607/210607.pdf

Also, I think we are very confused why you keep mentioning bdssa in regards to repeaters.  These are two different things.  bdssa is a reporting tool that lets you report on the bbsa environment.  Repeaters are a mechanism to cache deploy payloads at remote sites.  The two do not interact.

Can you explain you question “And with bdssa i can use out of box reporting for new added target server through repeaters implementation” – are you trying to create some report on the new repeater servers in your environment or new servers in the remote environment?  And what do you need to know about these new added target server?

ok, what kind of reports?  and are you having any specific problems generating the reports or you are trying to determine what is possible?

    OOTB reports only...

Repeaters and Advanced Repeaters are only used in the BSA product. BDSSA architecture does not require use of Repeaters and or advance repeaters. What OOB report you are trying to run?
