    Capture existing login with API?

When we write .net API applications we usually create a login page.    I'm writing an application now that uses a combination of OLE and API, and I'm wondering if there's a way to capture the existing session of an open window (as you can do in OLE) and pass it to the API so that they don't need to do a login?

In particular, I have a tree editor application that allows people to edit trees with drag and drop (then it automatically updates parent/child relationships).   To use this tool, it'd be great if they didn't need to log into the application.   The other option is impersonation and a generic account, but I'd like to avoid that if necessary.
