try latest pm for servers 2.5.10 which contains latest verion of agent
Dont think RHEL 5.2 is currently "formally" supported on the latest BPM for Servers relaese, i.e. it wont show up in the BMC matrix. However as a minor release of RHEL 5.0 it should be fine (99% confidence) , the kernel version is the key to it working or not and the RHEL kernels are generally very backwards compatible.
Worst case that the install fails when running target.sh then just initially install it onto a supported RHEL version, tar it up and move it to the 5.2 server
Danis is right, retreive the latest release of Patrol for Unix and Linux.
Then you can try this workaround (provide by BMC support for installing on RH 5.1)
Modify the /etc/redhat-release file. (or retreive one from redhat 5.0)
This was a workaround for installing Patrol Agent on redhat 5.1.
I think that you may try it for your redhat 5.2
I've got the same issue.
You mentioned retreiving the latest release of Patrol for Unix and Linux.
Whereabouts in the EPD area is it?
All I really want is the latest Patrol agent for Unix and Linux and I'm having trouble finding it.
The product has been repackaged as BMC Performance Manager for Servers for a while, actually I think perhaps a year or two.
I think you're not the only one having problems to find anything anymore... Product names have been changed, and also the EPD system. Knowlegde database has become almost useless. At least I think that lots of older, but useful information has disappeared, and finding the rest is now more difficult.
Here is the EPD address
And the product is "BMC Performance Manager for Servers".
I think the latest version doesn't have this stupid bug anymore, that you had to edit /etc/redhat-release file. I have installed one agent on RedHat 5.2. Still, it isn't on "Supported Platforms" list.
I had installed Patrol agent on Linux box by Creating a new user called abc and not with the root user.
When I added that agent in Patrol console its not accepting credentials of abc user but accepting root credentials only.
The problem coming is that I am not able to get all information of Linux machine and its showing only Event Information of Linux Box. Suggest me some solution for this?
1. Did you run the appropriate commands in the root log using sudo, (make the rootlog under BMC INSTALL executable, and run as root)
2. Did you preload the Unix3.kml?
3. Did you install the Unix KM's at the console (assuming classic console), or is it Patrol Central console?
4. Assuming classic console after installing the Unix KM's did you load the Unix KM's?
