DSO Authentication Failed

sandeep patwardhan

Hi all,

I am working on DSO.

There are 2 servers for which I am doing the distribution.

I have done all the required settings.

1. Both the servers are licensed.

2. serverds.exe is up and running.

3. from one of the KBs i commented DSO-USER-PASSWORD from ar.cfg. and also reentered the DSO Password in server information page.

still i am getting the above error ARERR 623.

Please help.

Thanks,

sandeep.

    Hi,

Can you tell me what all configuration and setting that you have already done.

Also let me know which AR Version you are using.

While i was working on DSO i noted down all the settings I did.

Check them out and let me know if that works for you.

Outline on how to setup the DSO:

    1. Check if servers involved in DSO are properly licensed.

    2. Check in task manager if the serverds.exe is already running. Else go to arserver install directory/conf/armonitor.cfg. remove the comment from serverds.exe. Perform this step on all servers.

    3. Go      to the ar.cfg file in your ARS install folder, and place a # in front      of the DSO-User-Password line, to comment it out

Go      to your User tool > AR Systems Administration Console > System >      General > Server Information > Connection Settings tab > DSO      Server tab, and reenter the DSO password for your server.

    4. also add your server names in the list of server in the same tab. check admin guide for more information.

    5. restart AR Servers. and verify if now the Serverds.exe is running.

try this out and let me know if it helps.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep.

      Hi Sandeep,

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciated.

We have a server group with 4 ARS6.3 servers, and another ARS6.3 for reporting. It's live sync from the server group to reporting.

In the server group, only one server has DSO process running.

      Our problem is:

We seen DSO Authentication Failed error in arerror.log intermittently, which causing a huge number of pending records in Distribution pending form.

If restart DSO process, it works ok for a while, then error comes up again.

      1. Check if servers involved in DSO are properly licensed.

Both DSO server and reporting are licensed, Do you know if DSO has a special licenses for server group, in our case we only want DSO process is running on one server, does this need a special license?

      2. Check in task manager if the serverds.exe is already running. Else go to arserver install directory/conf/armonitor.cfg. remove the comment from serverds.exe. Perform this step on all servers.

When Authentication Failed error comes up, I've checked both servers, DSO process is running.

      3. Go to the ar.cfg file in your ARS install folder, and place a # in front of the DSO-User-Password line, to comment it out, Go to your User tool > AR Systems Administration Console > System > General > Server Information > Connection Settings tab > DSO Server tab, and reenter the DSO password for your server.

I've tried # out DSO password from ar.conf file for both server group and reporting sever, then re-enter password, reopen the ar.conf file, the new DSO password line was generated, but error still comes up sometimes.

on the server group, I've defined a local password and remote application password for reporting server as well as RPC, port number. On reporting server, I've ONLY define local password (which is the same remote password on server group), I didn't specify a password to server group. I thought DSO is only a one way communication, am I right?

      4. also add your server names in the list of server in the same tab. check admin guide for more information.

I did folllow the guide, put both servers' name in both servers.

      5. restart AR Servers. and verify if now the Serverds.exe is running.

I also tried restart both servers, but no luck.

      Thanks Again

      Hi Bing,

Both DSO server and reporting are licensed, Do you know if DSO has a special licenses for server group, in our case we only want DSO process is running on one server, does this need a special license?

It surely requires DSO process running on both the servers. As DSO sends out a request from one server to another the DSO process acts as a channel for the request to flow between the servers.

      Also,

We seen DSO Authentication Failed error in arerror.log intermittently, which causing a huge number of pending records in Distribution pending form.

If restart DSO process, it works ok for a while, then error comes up again.

Does that mean for some records it works and later on it halts ? If this is the case then there is a issue with number of records which are getting created at a time. As the load increases on the server it stop the distribution and those entries go in the pending list. for this you will need to adjust the mappings for some forms.According to the load of the records created or modified on some forms, you can modify the mapping settings for "When to update".

      Thanks,

      Sandeep

      Hi,

I've the same problem, but only for a single form.

I've rebuild the DSO connection, replaced form on destination system, without results: every 30 seconds I found an error in arerror.log.

I tryed to move the DSO Action to a new pool also, but none appens

      I'm using AR Server 7.0.01 patch 009 on HP-UX B11.23

      Resolved, but I don't why...

I've noted that all transaction (from various forms) on the pool used by the form with error was still waiting for to be elaborated, so I've moved ALL DSO action from the pool used by the form in error to a NEW pool, then I've modified all pending transaction still pending on that pool (all transaction has been correctly elaborated) and then I've moved back ALL moved DSO action on the original pool.

No new errors was wrote in the arerror.log

Ok first question, what do you want to use DSO for?

Do you have two ARS servers you want to "synchronize" or do you want to "backup" from one server to another?

I already answered this some months ago when you asked the question:
