We are currently using multiple patch catalogs, Windows and Linux. Patches are being replaced with newer patches and some becomes irrelevant. It is easy to cleanup the irrelevant patches meta data on catalogs but the actual patches stays on our payload directory on our file server and never gets deleted.
Bill Robinson once created a script to cleanup these patches but for some reason it no longer works with v8.9. It also used to run for 10+ hours.
We call these patches orphan patches that are no longer linked to any catalogs but are still located in the payload directories of the existing catalogs.
We would like to get a tool that would work in two parts
- Identify these orphan patches and flag them for deletion
- Delete flagged patches
Similar to the soft & hard delete of the cleanup blcli commands.
