If a data mart materialization task has commenced the creation of the underlying database table it is not possible to KILL it as expected.
Killing a data mart materialization task in this instance does not take immediate effect, but waits until the database table creation has completed which can take a significant amount of time. In this situation the data mart materializer task is marked as KILLED, but in reality it is still running and subsequent executions cannot be scheduled or executed.
This is contrary to how TSCO works when killing other types of tasks and contrary to user expectations. It is an inconvenience when dealing with large data marts or data marts that are taking an excessive amount of time to materialize.
I would like KILLING of data mart materialization tasks to take effect immediately in line with expectations
