Today I'm installing version 8. Will be using standard ports for everything (except the agents) and POSTGRES for the database.
Am using Cygwin X-11 server on my desktop to provide access to the install GUI and that is working just fine. Will be doing this in chunks as I only have limited disk space for copying installation files to my target server. So, base product first, then will have to upload AFT, then BIM, then Forecast, then CM for DB. Then FixPacks to finish up.
I'm getting a bit of a late start on this as the morning dissipated with the usual. I have plenty of iced tea and a supply of Ghiradelli 60% Cacao that I hope will hold out long enough to get through the afternoon.
I'm building the upgrade target for our UAT environment. Our facility uses three Control-M Data Centers: (1) qa/dev for initial development, (20 uat for testing and (3) a production DC. The UAT environment will be our validation for moving forward fully to version 8.
Installing to Solaris 10, Sun Fire v-440, an oldie, but a goodie, considering we've got three zones on this, each running Control-M.
Lucky for me, I had the base product already uploaded. So installation was quick and successful. Everything started up OK and have shut all but the DB down to move on.
Install and upload PAAFT.7.0.00.100_Solaris_INSTALL.BIN and run bin file.
Upload DRCBM.8.0.00_Solaris.tar.Z (BIM installation).....; un-compress, un-tar and run setup.sh
Upload DRFOR.8.0.00_Solaris.tar.Z (Forecast installation); un-compress, un-tar and run setup.sh
Upload PANFT.8.0.00.300_Solaris_INSTALL.BIN and run bin file (EM FP3).
2:00pmEST and we're done

It starts up and looks ok. Next chapter we'll begin the post installation configuration and prepare for migration of data.
Two hours (more-or-less) and I have a working and patched Control-M v8 system, ready to go. And I still have a few chocolates to spare.
Hopefully, Monday we'll get to connecting the EM side to our domain controller, setting up SMTP, configuring retention and other variables and generally finalizing the installation. Will also migrate the AFT and DB accounts for our UAT data center. Sounds like fun, hmmm.
