    PRODUCT:

    Remedy Single Sign On

    QUESTION:

    I have a few questions regarding Remedy Single sign-on

    1. The BMC Remedy Single Sign-On installer does not perform uninstall. Would there be any issues to the System if the AR System, Mid Tier, MyIT and Smart IT, were integrated and Remedy SSO was not used?

    2. Per the Authentication and Integration concepts of BMC Remedy Single Sign-On video at https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/public/ars9000/Configuring+BMC+Remedy+Single+Sign-On, you “Install RSSO and BMC application on separate computers,” and “Run the RSSO installer on the computer where BMC Application is installed?” Is installing the RSSO different from running the RSSO installer?

    3. We were able to login successfully to the Remedy Single Sign-On Admin tool with the default credentials when it was initially installed. However, the credentials is no longer recognized by the System, and it is the only user that exist in the rsso database. Error generated is “You are not authorized. Please login as a different user.

    ANSWER:

    Q1. The BMC Remedy Single Sign-On installer does not perform unintegration. Would there be any issues to the System if the AR System, Mid Tier, MyIT and Smart IT, were integrated and Remedy SSO was not used?

    A1.  For windows you can use addremove program to run the RSSO installer for the integrated application. You will also have to do the following (do this part if you want to tempoarily want to disable rsso)

    For midtier edit the \midtier\WEB-INF\web.xml class and comment out the RSSO filter
     <!--
       <filter-name>RSSOFilter</filter-name>
        <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
      </filter-mapping>
    -->
    Then edit midtier\WEB-INF\classes\config.properties file

    replace

    arsystem.authenticator=com.bmc.rsso.plugin.authenticator.RSSOAuthenticator

    with

    arsystem.authenticator=com.remedy.arsys.session.DefaultAuthenticator

    restart the midtier service.

    For MYIT/SMART IT, update the tenant table in the MyIT database

    update SMARTIT_SYSTEM.TENANT set SAML_AUTHENTICATION = 0 where SAML_AUTHENTICATION = 1

    A1. First you need to install RSSO on one server with separate tomcat -Whenever you want to integrate any agent to RSSO server you need to run the installer on that agent machine and select the integrate option for that particular agent.

    Q2. Is it not mandatory to install RSSO on separate machine but BMC recommend to install it on separate machine to manage application smoothly.

    A2. Although there are no technical limitations of installing the RSSO server on the same machine as other applications, the recomendation is to install RSSO server on its own machine.

    Q3. We were able to login successfully to the Remedy Single Sign-On Admin tool with the default credentials when it was initially installed. However, the credentials is no longer recognized by the System, and it is the only user that exist in the rsso database for admins. Error generated is “You are not authorized. Please login as a different user.

    A3. View the following docs url on instructions on how to update the RSSO database user password
