Control-M/Enterprise Manager All versions
Control-M/Enterprise Manager Web Server component sometimes shows up and then down in Control-M Configuration Manager (CCM) .
Default port 8005 used by another process
In the < Control-M/Enterprise Manager Server HOME>/ctm_em/etc/emweb/tomcat/conf/server.xml you will see the following be default.
<Server port="8005" shutdown="SHUTDOWN">
This 8005 port is being used on the system by another process. This causes the Control-M/Enterprise Manager server process to be unable to start. We updated the file to use port 18005 and this corrected the problem.
What we found in the logs under <emhome> emweb/tomcat/logs folder in the catalina log file :
SEVERE: StandardServer.await: create:
java.net.BindException: Address already in use
In unix you can do a grep 8005 /etc/services, this may tell if the port is defined to another service
