    PROBLEM:

Authentication seems to be unaffected by the AREA Configuration values. It still authenticates after configuring an invalid Host Name
Details: Attempting to test an additional AREA LDAP configuration by changing existing Host Name to an invalid host name, but the authentication is unaffected. It authenticates user with an invalid host name in the configuration.

    SOLUTION:

    Legacy ID:KA369219

It seems that in some environments we need to have the DC (LDAP Server) name which is being used in the AREA LDAP configuration, resolve to a valid IP address. It may be correct or wrong IP address.

Eg: We configured the AREA LDAP for failover with the following DC names, pcs341 and pds341 (which is the invalid hostname).

You need to have both of these DNS hostnames or FQDN resolve to IP address.

So adding a entry for pds341 in the hosts file resolved the issue.

Note: The IP address which you add need not be reachable over the network.
