    BMC Remedy AR System Server

    PROBLEM:

Error ARERR 90 displays on screen when creating a report in AR System Server Report Console, and the report selected fails to open.

    CAUSE:

There is a mismatch between the AR System Server's server name in the armonitor.cfg and ar.cfg files.

    SOLUTION:

    Legacy ID:KA371759

    1. Enable AR Java Plugin logging at DEBUG level by going through the steps in the following knowledge article:
Remedy - Server - v.9.x How to enable DEBUG Java Plugin Server Logging in AR System in the arjavaplugin.log file
Note: The Plugin name is ARSYS.ARDBC.ARREPORTENGINE.

    • Cause the ARERR 90 error message to display again, so that it is written to the AR Java Plugin log.

    • Change the logging level back to ERROR.

    • Open the armonitor.cfg file (armonitor.conf on a Linux server) in a text editor and locate an entry similar to the following:
      "%BMC_JAVA_HOME%\java" -Xmx1024m -classpath "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\pluginsvr;C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\pluginsvr\arpluginsvr91_build006.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_221\lib\bmcext\*.jar;C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\arserver\api\lib\arcmnapp91_build006.jar" com.bmc.arsys.pluginsvr.ARPluginServerMain -x WIN-A1B2C3D4E5F -i "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem" -m

The entry above shows that the AR Java Plugin has the Server Name configured as "WIN-A1B2C3D4E5F".

    • Open the ar.cfg file (ar.conf_xxx on a Linux server) in a text editor and locate three entries similar to the following:
      Server-Name: exampleserver1
      Configuration-Name: exampleserver1.bmc.com

      Server-Plugin-Alias: ARSYS.ARDBC.ARREPORTENGINE ARSYS.ARDBC.ARREPORTENGINE exampleserver1.bmc.com:9999

As can be seen in the above example, neither Server-Name nor Server-Connect-Name is referring to " WIN-A1B2C3D4E5F " as was found in step 4.

    • Open the arjavaplugin.log in a text editor, and locate an entry similar to the following:
2019-01-20 15:00:25,601 ERROR [pool-2-thread-5] com.bmc.arsys.apitransport.connection.b (?:?) - Connects to WIN-A1B2C3D4E5F:39456 through Java Rpc failed with: ERROR (90): AR System Server

This demonstrates that the AR Java Plugin is attempting to connect to a server named " WIN-A1B2C3D4E5F ".

    • To resolve the issue, either change the “-x [ServerNameHere]” value in the armonitor.cfg file, or change the Server-Name value in the ar.cfg file, so that both entries match.   Once this change has been made, restart the AR System Server service and confirm the issue no longer occurs.
