Install Planner comes with a bundled Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. The Install Planner installs the Redistributable on the target machine. If a Redistributable is already present, Install Planner skips the installation of the Redistributable.

During the Enterprise AR installation, BMC Remedy ITSM preconfigured Stack is the first component to be installed. If there is a problem installing the Redistributable, the BMC Remedy ITSM preconfigured Stack installation will fail with the above error.

This error can be received if multiple attempts have already been made to install Enterprise AR and the target machine has not been cleaned properly before restarting a new Install Planner session. For e.g. if the target machine is a Virtual Machine, it is advisable to take a snapshot before the installation of every component so that if a subsequent installation fails, the VM can be reverted to a previous state. For a physical server, if the product installation fails, then it is required to drop the associated database, use the uninstall.exe / to uninstall the installed product and clean up the folder structures that are created after the failed installation.

In order to prevent this error from occurring again, the target machine must first be cleaned to a pre-install state. Then, Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installer of 2008 version (vcredist_x64.exe) or higher can be downloaded and installed separately on the target machine. Once the Install Planner is started again later, it will find the Redistributable installed and will proceed ahead with the rest of installation.

Note: In case the above error is received, it is advisable to download the Redistributable and install it on all the machines that are to be used for installing CLM products.

For BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.6.00, Install Planner will run pre-analyzer first against your target installation servers to ensure if they are met with the product requirements. Please follow these requirements and prepare your environment before starting fresh CLM installation.
