Disabling Alarm Notifications based on Time Ranges using Scheduled Downtimes or Alarm Rules
The data is being collected and the Critical Alarm can be seen on the Graph, but there is not always an Alarm Notification. There are two instances configured with different Alarm thresholds which are enabled/disabled at different times of the day based on Scheduled Downtimes. The conflict may be due to the configuration of the Scheduled Downtimes; depending on which "Downtime Options" are selected - Data Collection, Alarm/Event Generation, Alarm Rule Action/Notification, and/or Calculate Baseline.
In this case, the "Data Collection" was enabled, but the Alarm Rule Action/Notification was disabled; this configuration suppressed the Alarm Notification when the related Scheduled Downtime was active.
Rather than disabling Alarm Notifications using Scheduled Downtimes, two separate Alarm Rules configured with different Time Ranges is a more direct and obvious approach. The related Administration Options are available within the Operations Console.
"Alarm Thresholds" (Operations Console | Options | Administration tab | Alarm Administration section | Alarm Thresholds, Edit)
"Alarm Rules" (Operations Console | Options | Administration tab | Alarm Administration section | Alarm Rules, Edit)
"Scheduled DownTime" (Operations Console | Options | Administration tab | Data Collection section | Scheduled DownTime, Edit)
"Schedules" (Operations Console | Options | Administration tab | Advanced section | Schedules, Edit)
