Using the Encrypt/ Decrypt functions within a filter operation. Is the data decrypted on the client or at the server? Assuming at the server since it is a filter operation but I need to check to be sure.

    PROBLEM:

Using the Encrypt/ Decrypt functions within a set field filter operation.

Is the data decrypted on the client or at the server?
Assuming at the server since it is a filter operation but I need to check to be sure.

We are trying to prevent clear text over the wire for just one column in a form, without using the "Global" Standard Encryption option from within the ar.cfg file.

Below is the Help Text from the Admin tool which states the usage:

    DECRYPT
    (cyphertext, key)
Used in Set Fields filter actions only. Returns the unencrypted text value of the encrypted text, using the encryption key. This function takes the base64 string and returns the original text string. When decrypting, you must use the same key that you used when encrypting.
To decrypt the string in Field1 using the key my_key, enter:
    DECRYPT($/Field1$, "my_key")

To decrypt a string using a key in KeyField, enter:
    DECRYPT("String to decrypt", $/ KeyField$)

    ENCRYPT
    (plaintext, key)
Used in Set Fields filter actions only. Returns the encrypted value of a text string, using the encryption key. This function takes a text string and returns an encrypted result as a base64 string that is 25% longer.
For example, to encrypt the string in Field1 using the key my_key, enter:
    ENCRYPT($Field1$, "my_key")

To encrypt a string using a key in KeyField, enter:
    ENCRYPT("Word to encrypt", $KeyField$)

    SOLUTION:

    Legacy ID:KA298542

Customer was made aware of field 102 that allows for a masked field to be encrypted across the wire, such as a password field.

however they did not want the field masked. At the end they decided there were okay with using the filter action encrypt/decrypt and not worrying about whether the data is encrypted across the wire.
