    PRODUCT:

    DELTA PLUS

    APPLIES TO:

    DELTA PLUS

    PROBLEM:

BMC is alerting users to a problem in the following products for the IBM IMS environments:

      -DELTA PLUS

      -DELTA PLUS VIRTUAL TERMINAL

      Issue

User U4068 abends might occur in the IMS control region when the following

      conditions exist:

?   A user U4068-366 abend might occur after you perform an ACBLIB online change

when DELTA PLUS processes a corrupted data management block (DMB) in the

      active ACBLIB.

Following are examples of the U4068-366 abend registers at the time of abend:

BMC186027E DELTA PLUS logic error in CSECT DLPOXRE3 at label OXRE-02

BMC186005E DELTA PLUS processing failed - abend U4068 subcode 0366

DFS629I IMS CTL TCB ABEND - IMS 4068

      DFS629I PSW AT ERROR = 077C1000 AEFD2C9C

      DFS629I MODID = UNKNOWN EPA = UNKNOWN

      DFS629I R0-3 80000000 80000FE4 00000366 2EFD32E8

      DFS629I R12-15 2EFD2698 309E0868 AEFD2D26 00000366

When you restart IMS after the U4068-366 abend occurs, a subsequent U4068-242

abend occurs in the IMS control region when DELTA PLUS processes a corrupted

      DMB in the active ACBLIB.

To circumvent the U4068-366 or U4068-242 abend problem before applying the

      correcting PTF, you must back out the corrupted DMB from the active ACBLIB;

to do so, revert back to the previous ACBLIB that does not contain the

      corrupted DMB.

?   A U4068-242 abend might occur when you restart IMS when DELTA PLUS

processes a corrupted DMB in the active ACBLIB.

Following are examples of the subsequent U4068-242 abend registers at the time

To circumvent the U4068-242 abend problem before applying the correcting

PTF, you must back out the corrupted DMB from the active ACBLIB; to do so,

revert back to the previous ACBLIB that does not contain the corrupted DMB.

The following table provides information about the PTF that resolves this issue (You may click on the Solution link to go directly to the Solution and also to the eFix PTF):

      Version 2.4.01 – PTF BPQ9618 – Issue ISS04257478 - Defect QM001818692 – Solution SLN000015178180 – Knowledge Article KA410448

      Version 2.5.00 – PTF BPQ9619 – Not applicable         - Defect QM001818693 – Solution SLN000015178186 – Knowledge Article KA410448

You must restart the IMS Control Region (any type of IMS restart) to make this PTF change effective.

To circumvent the IMS U4068 abend problem before the fixing PTF has been applied, the corrupted

DMB must be backed out of the active ACBLIB by backing out to the previous ACBLIB library

which does not contain the corrupted DMB.

BMC recommends using BMC Internet Service Retrieval (ISR) to obtain PTFs. For

information about ISR, see your product’s installation guide.

You can also obtain PTFs from eFix PTF Distribution Services (eFix). You can access

eFix directly at   http://efix.bmc.com    or from the support site.

DELTA PLUS has been modified to prevent an IMS Control Region U4068 abend when processing corrupted DMBs in the active ACBLIB during DELTA PLUS XREF processing.

(The DELTA PLUS XREF feature provides information about the defined relationships between IMS resources).

The PTF fix now generates an error message to the IMS joblog which identifies the ACBLIB resource in error.

Below are new DELTA PLUS messages associated with DELTA PLUS XREF processing that are included with this PTF solution:
