    PROBLEM:

    How can a new J2CResourceAdapter be configured on WebSphere Application Server using Application Release Automation (ARA)?

    SOLUTION:

    Legacy ID:KA327521

    A  J2CResourceAdapter has an archivePath which should point to a .RAR file.

    Below is the entry from a BARA configuration file:

      <J2CResourceAdapter Classification="Cell" Target="Cell"

          archivePath="${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/installedConnectors/sib.api.jmsra.rar"

          description="ABC Messaging Provider"

          name="ABC Resource Adapter" threadPoolAlias="Default">

    During the creation of the J2CResourceAdapter we need to specify a source location called as absolutePath from where the .RAR file will be copied to the above mentioned archivePath

    When setting up a new J2CResourceAdapter, the .RAR file needs to be copied to the target server and on the configuration file a new attribute called archivePath needs to be added.

    Below is the updated BARA configuration:

    <J2CResourceAdapter Classification="Cell" Target="Cell"

          archivePath="${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/installedConnectors/sib.api.jmsra.rar"

          description="ABC Messaging Provider"

          name="ABC Resource Adapter" threadPoolAlias="Default"

          absolutePath="/tmp/abc.rar">

    The source .RAR file can also be copied to the target server by using the “File Transfer” tab of the configuration file. To use the file transfer capabilities below information are needed:

    SSH Connection details:

    Host

    Port

    Username

    Password

    Identity file

    Passphrase
