Remedy AR System Server
BMC Remedy AR System Server
The following error is observed:
ARERR Cannot establish a network connection to the AR System Plug-In server : <server Name>
REMEDY.ARDBC.SERVER.ADMINISTRATION : RPC: Program not registered
Missing or incorrect configurated parameters in ar.cfg/ar.conf.
The part of the error stating:
....RPC: Program not registered....
Means that the AR System is configured to not use the Port Mapper but the Plugin Port is not configured in the configuration file.
The parameter in the ar.cfg/ar.conf file will appear like this:
And the plugin port entry will be empty:
Plugin-Port: <or being zero>
To solve this error a Plugin Port needs to be added in the configuration file:
Plugin-Port: port number
making sure the port is available and open (this may require to be checked and confirmed with the Network team).
Note: If Register-With-Portmapper was set to F, means the portmapper was not selected during the installation of AR System. When installing AR System we can select to use a portmapper or not.
If we select No, the portmapper application will not be installed and the Register-With-Portmapper parameter will be set to F. If we want to use the portmapper later on, we will need to run the installer in Upgrade mode because the portmapper is only install by the installer. If we selected not to use the portmapper originally, then it will not be present in the application.
