Remedy Smart Reporting - How To Reset Default Admin User "siadmin" Password To Fix The Error "You have exceeded the number of allowed login attempts."?

    PROBLEM:

    The default password for 'siadmin' user has been changed and isn't recorded. After multiple attempts it gives the error "You have exceeded the number of allowed login attempts."

     


    CAUSE:

    Password has been locked due to multiple incorrect login attempts.


    SOLUTION:

    Please follow below steps to reset default Admin user "siadmin" password:

       
    1. Go to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\SmartReporting\development\examples
    2.  
    3. Copy ResetAdmin.jsp and paste it in C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\SmartReporting\appserver\webapps\ROOT
    4.  
    5. Go to C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem\SmartReporting\appserver\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF
    6.  
    7. Open Web.xml
    8.  
    9. Search for CSRF under csrf filter look for ignore
    10.  
    11. Make the below changes and save the file
      
      <param-name>Ignore</param-name>
                <param-value>/info.jsp,/info_threads.jsp,/ResetAdmin.jsp</param-value>  
       
    1. Restart the Tomcat
    2.  
    3. With Bundled Tomcat go to http://<server name>:<port number>/ResetAdmin.jsp
    4.  
    5. With External Tomcat go to  http://<server name>:<port number>/directory/ResetAdmin.jsp e.g. http://<server name>:<port number>/SmartReporting/ResetAdmin.jsp
    6.  
    7. Change the password back to 'siadmin'
    8.  
    9. Remove the entry made in web.xml and delete the ResetAdmin.jsp file from ROOT.
      
    Note:The above changes are risky and unsecured.So revert the changes as soon as the password gets reset for 'siadmin'.
