'TCP Provider: The semaphore timeout period has expired' error raised in Control-M/Server log files

    PROBLEM:


    Connectivity errors between Control-M/Server and MSSQL Server database can be found in Control-M/Server proclog folder:

    0607 08:49:24.672  Primary: Provider Error number: 80004005      TCP Provider: The semaphore timeout period has expired.
     
    0607 08:58:49.656  COM Error Code = 80004005 ;Code meaning = Unspecified error ;Source = Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 ;Description = Communication link failure

    MSSQL Server is located in a remote server.

    How to troubleshoot those errors?


    CAUSE:

    Network problems between Control-M Server machine and MSSQL Server machine


    SOLUTION:


    The error "TCP Provider: The semaphore timeout period has expired" means Control-M Server has communication problems with MSSQL Server database at TCP/IP level.
