    PRODUCT:

    Remedy Single Sign On

    COMPONENT:

    Remedy Single Sign On

    APPLIES TO:

All RSSO 9.x products, possible with ASSO products as well

    PROBLEM:

After running an upgrade of a Midtier to 9.1.03 (and potentially to 9.1.0.4) which was configured with agent the RSSO login and received the following error in the browser screen on login:

HTTP Status 500 - RSSO: No SSO service instance found
    type: Exception report
message: RSSO: No SSO service instance found
description: The server encountered an internal error that prevented it from fulfilling this request
    exception:
java.io.IOException: RSSO: No SSO service instance found
           com.bmc.rsso.plugin.authenticator.RSSOAuthenticator.getAuthenticatedCredentials(RSSOAuthenticator.java:93)

           ....

    CAUSE:

MidTier upgrade replaces web.xml with default template that does not have RSSO agent included.

    SOLUTION:

The default web.xml file that gets distributed with the Mid Tier hotfix does not contain the RSSO plugin details.

    The web.xml is located in

    \ARSystem\midtier\WEB-INF\web.xml

Replace the web.xml with a working copy (see attachments) that contains the RSSO plugin details, then restart Mid Tier server and the issue will be resolved.
