    QUESTION:

    MainView for DB2 Performance Reporter 10.1 and higher

    How to not sort compressed SMF records in reference to the SMFCOMP=YES ZPARM.

    ANSWER:

    Legacy ID:KA413931

      The MainView for DB2 Performance Reporter 10.1 and higher supports compressed SMF data. The decompression is done by the DPRSE15 module that is specified in the DFSPARM DD statement in the DPRSMF job.  See Knowledge Article KA408852 for details.

      Customers may not need to sort SMF compressed records or they may want to sort them later for different reasons.  The normal DFSPARM options to read compressed records and sort them is shown below:

      The following sample is distributed in hlq.BBSAMP(DPRSMF).

    //*
    //* NOTE: SEE OVER-RIDE STEP:  STEP1.DFSPARM DD
    //*       THE ENTRY: MODS E15=(DPRSE15,0,,N)
    //*       IS VALID FOR BOTH DFSORT AND SYNCSORT AND IT WILL
    //*       LOAD THE DPRSE15 LOAD MODULE FROM EITHER STEPLIB,
    //*       LINKLST, OR THE JOBLIB DD.
    //*
    //STEP1.DFSPARM DD *
     MODS E15=(DPRSE15,0,,N)
     OPTION VLSHRT
     /*

    In addition, it is recommended to remove the parm SORT=NO coded after the DPRCNTL DD to allow the exit E15 to get control and to sort the records in flight.

      If customers do not need to sort SMF compressed records, they can leave SORT=NO coded after the DPRCNTL DD and use the COPY option in the DFSPARM control statements  that will invoke the exit E15 to decompress the records but without sorting them:

     //STEP1.DFSPARM DD *
     MODS E15=(DPRSE15,0,,N)
     OPTION COPY,VLSHRT
     /*
