    QUESTION:

    How to enable debug category logging for Platform Manager csm.log and how control its size and frequency ?

    ANSWER:

    Legacy ID:KA360896

    To enable Debug, Error, Info or Warn mode for csm.log,

    In Cloudservices.json file, typically located at: <platform manager Instld Dir>/conf/cloudservices.json search for the below entries:

    search for the below entries:

    "attributeValue" : "info",
        "description" : "Debug Level",
        "guid" : "48090eb6-ce4c-4fb6-9d28-3d9d9fb33b01",
        "name" : "debugLevel"

    Change the attribute Value to "Info" or "Debug" and restart the OSGI services.

    Enabling Debug mode will increase the size of the log file and the rate in which it rolls out.
    In such case we may need to increase the 'Max Backup Index' and 'Max File Size in Megs' as per requirement.

    By default the 'Max Backup Index'  (number of backup files kept ) is set to 5 and 'Max File Size In Megs' (file size) is set to 10 MB.

    Steps to increase the 'Max Backup Index' :

    In Cloudservices.json file search for the entry "name" : "maxBackupIndex" and change the attribute value as per requirement.

    Following is the snippet:

    "cloudClass" : "com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.AccessAttribute",
    "datatype" : "Integer",
    "description" : "Maximum number of backup log files on roll-over",
    "guid" : "c7f2deb0-e0db-425b-aefb-2ec1159311aa",
    "hasValueObject" : [ {
    "cloudClass" : "com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.AccessAttributeValue",
    "attributeValue" : "5",
    "guid" : "48affb9f-2320-43f7-8d28-9a3ebba9f4a3",
    "name" : "maxBackupIndex"
    } ],
    "isOptional" : false,
    "isPassword" : false,
    "length" : 255,
    "modifiableWithoutRestart" : false,
    "name" : "maxBackupIndex"

    Steps to increase the 'Max File Size In Megs' :

    In Cloudservices.json file search for the entry "name" : "maxFileSizeInMegs" and change the attribute value as per requirement.

    Following is the snippet:

    "cloudServiceDefinition" : "/cloudservicedefinition/07ef2577-d817-4996-b9a7-fab6b71f27df",
    "cloudServiceDefinitionObject" : {
    "cloudClass" : "com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.CloudServiceDefinition",
    "accessAttributes" : [ {
    "cloudClass" : "com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.AccessAttribute",
    "datatype" : "Integer",
    "description" : "Maximum file size in Megabytes",
    "guid" : "6d38a2b9-640a-40f6-9493-8d6faa277ad4",
    "hasValueObject" : [ {
    "cloudClass" : "com.bmc.cloud.model.beans.AccessAttributeValue",
    "attributeValue" : "10",
    "guid" : "f0c4c88b-eccd-45fb-9581-88ef584b63f4",
    "name" : "maxFileSizeInMegs"
    } ],
    "isOptional" : false,
    "isPassword" : false,
    "length" : 255,
    "modifiableWithoutRestart" : false,
    "name" : "maxFileSizeInMegs"
