    QUESTION:

When will VMware ESX 5.5i/6.0i and vCenter v5.5/v6.0 Proxy data collection be supported in BMC Performance Assurance(BPA)?

    ANSWER:

    vSphere 5.5

    BPA 9.5.02 supports vSphere 5.5.

Request for Enhancement (RFE) QM001828620 requesting vCenter 5.5 has been implemented in BPA version 9.5.02.

    vSphere 6

The last release of vCenter officially certified for support in BPA version 9.5.02 was vSphere version 5.5.

Then in version 10.0 the BPA vCenter proxy data collection feature was deprecated (Integration via vCenter Proxy Agents) so no future release of the BPA vCenter proxy solution has been officially certified against vCenter version 6.

BPA 9.5.02 and later releases have not been certified against vSphere 6 and is not expected to work properly due to the changes in the vSphere 6 API.

With the deprecation of the BPA vCenter proxy data collection solution in version 10.0 and later the recommendation is to migrate vCenter proxy data collection from BPA to the CO vCenter Extractor Service (although this would require a CO 10.3 environment as CO 10.3 is the first release to support vSphere 6).
