    QUESTION:

     
       How to Make Fields Required in BMC Helix Remedyforce? 


    ANSWER:

     

      There are three ways to make fields required.
      
        
      
      By editing the Layout.
    1. Go to App Setup | Create | Objects | Incident (for example).
    2. Go to Page Layouts.
    3. Edit "Remedyforce Incident Console version 1.0" (for example).
    4. Hoover over the field you need to change and click on the wrench icon.
    5. Mark "Required". Click "OK".
    6. Click on save.
    7.  Verify the field is now required.

      When creating the field Tick Required.
    1. Log into RF | Click Setup
      
      2. type "Objects" in the quick find box and select objects from below.
      
      3. Select the Incident object (for example).
    4. Under Custom Fields & Relationships Click New.
      
      5. Select the type of field | Click Next.
      
      6. Supply the required information | Tick Always require a value in the this field in order to save a record | Click Next.
      
      7. For Field-Level Security for Profile Tick Visible to make the field visible for all profiles | Click Next.
    8. Click Save.
    9. Verify the field is now required.

      On the Object where the field is created add a Validation Rule.
      
      1. Log into RF | Click Setup |   
       2. Under App Setup Expand Create | Select Objects. 
       
       3. Select the Incident module (for example).
    4. Scroll down to Validation Rules  | Click New.
     
       
       5. Create the Validation rule as desired | Click Save. 
       
       6. Verify the field is now required. 
      
      
     
      In the Field Set located in the Object where the field is created:
    1. Log into RF | Click Setup | 
    2. Under App Setup Expand Create | Select Objects.
    3. Select the Incident module (for example).
    4. Scroll down to Field Set | Edit next to the Corresponding Field Set
    5. Hoover over the field you need to change and click on the wrench icon.
    6. Mark "Required". Click "OK".
    7. Click on save.
    8.  Verify the field is now required in Remedyforce Console

      NOTE: The decision to make a field required should not be taken lightly as required fields will affect test cases as well as code development in the Sandbox.
