    QUESTION:

    How the Search Function Works in the CMDB Console?


    ANSWER:

     

       
        

    By default, even though it does not have spaces, the search will not search the entire string, but parts of it.  See below:

        

    When searching for the follow string, X1SER001 in the Remedyforce CMDB Console.  The Salesforce search algorithm breaks the X1SER001 string as follows:

        

    X & 1 & SER & 001 (and any combination of these strings).

        

    The workaround for this is to encapsulate the search string in quotes. For example to locate records pertaining to the string X1SER001 in the Remedyforce CMDB search field type: "X1SER001" and it will return the required results in the CMDB Console.
