What is the impact to the Control-M/Enterprise Manager Postgres database size when increasing Audit data retention?
Control-M/Enterprise Manager 7.0.00
Control-M/Enterprise Manager 8.0.00
Audit information is stored in the following Control-M/Enterprise Manager database tables:
For Postgres, run the following query:
SELECT relname as "Table", pg_size_pretty(pg_total_relation_size(relid)) As "Size", pg_size_pretty(pg_total_relation_size(relid) - pg_relation_size(relid)) as "External Size" FROM pg_catalog.pg_statio_user_tables ORDER BY pg_total_relation_size(relid) DESC;
select segment_name,segment_type,bytes/1024/1024 MB from dba_segments where segment_type='TABLE' and segment_name='AUDIT_ACTIVITIES';
select segment_name,segment_type,bytes/1024/1024 MB from dba_segments where segment_type='TABLE' and segment_name='AUDIT_OPERATIONS';
select segment_name,segment_type,bytes/1024/1024 MB from dba_segments where segment_type='TABLE' and segment_name='AUDIT_ATTRIBUTES';
To connect to the database, contact your DBA or use the following options:
For Windows, you can connect to the database with a command similar to this: em_sql -U emdbowneruser -P password
For Unix, run the root_menu utility and select Troubleshooting -> Database Troubleshooting -> Interactive SQL
This will give a list of tables and the space used and the current total size will give a rough indication of how much it might grow when you increase it.
