    QUESTION:

How do I import a MainView 3270 screen into a Mainview Explorer Container?

    ANSWER:

View Container support in MainView Explorer includes the ability to import 3270 screens.

You must first issue the SAVEScr command in 3270 mode to make the screen available for import. The following is taken from the Help panel of the SAVEScr command:-

------------------------ Help for SAVEScr command in 3270 Windows mode ---------------------------

When you enter the SAVEScr command, a panel is displayed for defining a screen definition name, a description, and whether or not to overwrite an existing definition by the same name.

The name and description information defined in this panel appears on the SCREENS view under the Name and Description columns.

To display a previously defined screen, do one of the following:

       o Use the SCREENS command
o Select a screen from the SCREENS view
o Define a screen definition as the default
initial display for any user session

The SAVEScr command is not valid from within a maximized window.

The Wn command has no effect on the SAVEScr command.

------------------------ End Help for SAVEScr command in 3270 Windows mode -----------------------

The SAVEScr command creates a screen definition member in the User BBSDEF library (if allocated) or Site SBBSDEF.  Once the screen definition is saved, it can be imported as a container in MainView Explorer.  Select 'Import screen (3270)' from the file menu. In the 'Import screen (3270)' dialogue, set your library by selecting the Site or User radio button and select the screen definition you want from the drop-down list. You can also issue the command "SCREEN name" on any command line.
