    QUESTION:

How to use the BMC Control-M Usage Reporting Tool?

    ANSWER:

Please follow these steps and/or watch the below video:

    1. Ensure that the Windows OS on which you wish to run the tool has Java version 1.7 or later. This can be a workstation that has access to the EM database.

    2. Download the BMC Control-M Usage Reporting Tool from our Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site.

    3. Extract the tool from the .zip file, and run the "Run.bat" executable.

    4. In the Input screen, enter a label to identify the Control-M/Enterprise Manager (EM) environment in the "Environment" field.

    5. In the "Database Type" field, select the type of the EM database. (For Oracle RAC, see Knowledge Article 000075660)

    6. In the "Host" field, specify the hostname where the EM database is located. Database host name and port information can be found in the Control-M configuration manager under “Database” --> "Location".

    7. In the "Port" field, specify the port used to connect to the EM database. Database host name and port information can be found in the Control-M configuration manager under “Database” --> "Location".

    8. In the "User" field, specify the username of the database account that owns the EM database. If it is a PostgreSQL database, then this will be a Control-M account with admin privileges. If it is another type of database, such as an Oracle or MSSQL database, then it must be a DB account with admin privileges.

    9. In the "Password" field, enter the password for the database user specified in step 8.

    10. In the "Database" field, specify the name of the EM database. (This field is case-sensitive.)

    11. Repeat steps 4-10 for any additional EM environments.

    12. Click "Next" to generate the report data.

    13. Click "Save Report" to save the report to disk.

    14. Submit the "reports.zip" file created in the location specified in step 13.
