    APPLIES TO:

    ARS 7.x,8.x, 9.x

    QUESTION:

Underlying database is not a Unicode database but your AR server is configured as Unicode

    ANSWER:

    This messages says that

1> DB is not a unicode  = this is True

2> AR Server is configured as Unicode = this is also true (Reason why see below)

Database is NOT Unicode!  you can check below from database:

    NLS_CHARACTERSET WE8ISO8859P15

Why installer thinks that ARS is Unicode because ?

In armonitor we can see below line:

    "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\AtriumCore\cmdb\server64\bin\arrecond.exe" --unicode -i "C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ARSystem" -m

    Resolution for this scenerio :

1> To remove --unicode from armonitor
    2> Restart server service
    3> Retry Upgrade

    Upgrade goes sucessful
