Flexera/Discovery/ADDM integration: Is this supported? How does it work?

    ANSWER:

    Flexera/Discovery/ADDM integration: Is this supported?

      See http://www.flexerasoftware.com/enterprise/products/software-license-management/flexnet-manager-suite-enterprises/
"FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises is a [...] license compliance and software license optimization solution"

Flexera has a partnership with BMC:
Flexera appears in https://marketplace.bmc.com -> Partner Directory
    (see https://marketplace.bmc.com/companies/flexera-software)

They have an adapter that is "TAP (Technology Alliance Program) validated"

https://marketplace.bmc.com ->  browse category -> Validated, search Flexera and you will find that:
    https://marketplace.bmc.com/companies/flexera-software/products/flexera-software-flexnet-manager-platform-adapter-for-bmc-addm-cmdb-and-bbca-84736190-ac59-489b-935c-eaf717cdbdbb

    More info about the TAP:

This page does not implicitly say it, but in the case of the Flexera adapter, this is supported by BMC.

Flexera/Discovery/ADDM integration: How does it work?
      ADDM version 10 and below:

    1. Flexera has provided some patterns (CPUInfo.zip) for ADDM/Discovery. This appears to be part of the "Flexera Software FlexNet Manager Platform Adapter for BMC ADDM, CMDB, and BBCA". The customer has to deploy these patterns on ADDM/Discovery. These patterns add new Detail nodes (Detail.type = 'CPU Information') attached to the scanned host with new attributes like Detail.total_cpu_cores, Detail.total_cpu_socket, ...
    2.
    3. ADDM/Discovery scans the hosts with the patterns above, and new Detail nodes are created
    4.
    5. Other Flexera tools (probably part of the "Flexera Software FlexNet Manager Platform Adapter for BMC ADDM, CMDB, and BBCA") extract data from ADDM/discovery with queries executed via the xml api. The result is used to manage licenses.

Discovery 11 and above: the adapter is not needed anymore. Only step 3 above applies.
