Remedy Definition - Data Exporter

Version 4
    Share This:

    Summary

The Admin Export Data definition is a basic set of Remedy ARS objects that can be used to export data from all fields on a form. It also can be used to launch forms (similar to the User Tool Object List) and count the number of records in a form.

    Details

    Requirements

The file is exported using runmacro.exe. If you do not have a copy on your local machine you can run runmacro.exe via UNC path from the (Windows) AR Server. Exporting records only works in the User Tool, Mid Tier will not execute runmacro.exe.

    File format

The exported file name is in the format of:

    • Form Name   - colons replaced by % and spaces removed +
    • Server Name +
    • ALL/LIMITED   - Indicator if all records or a limited search was used +
    • Date   - YYYY-MM-DD +
    • Time   - hhmmss +
    • Extension   - arx or csv

    Selecting and Query

Selecting multiple forms in the table will export records from the selected forms, given that any Record Query qualification is valid for those forms.

Record Queries using core fields (1-8) by their ID works for all regular forms. An example is the Submitted Today check box that will automatically add   ‘3’ > “<CURRENT DATE>”

The Advanced Query button is disabled by default and requires an additional dialog for building advance qualifications. An ITSM system typically has a few of these dialogs that can be used.

    Log

The output of runmacro.exe is visible in the Log field.

    Preferences

Click the My Preferences button to create a preference record that will load when you open the form.

    Record Count

To get an idea of how many records will be exported when exporting all records in a form you can get a count of records by selecting the form(s) and clicking Record Counts.

    Build Information

The original definition set was built on version 6.x.  It has most recently been updated in version 8.1 as Custom objects however should still be compatible with earlier versions of ARS.
