Enabling network data encryption
The following section describes how to enable the network data encryption between the BMC Server Automation application server and the Oracle database.
Note: For information about network data encryption, see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28530/asoconfg.htm#i1007023 in the Oracle documentation.
Ensure that BMC Server Automation is integrated with the Oracle Enterprise 11g R2 database.
To enable the network data encryption
1. Log on to the computer where Oracle Enterprise 11g R2 database has been installed.
2. Open the sqlnet.ora file located at <ORACLE_HOME>/NETWORK/ADMIN and add the following entries:
SQLNET.ENCRYPTION_SERVER = requested
SQLNET.CRYPTO_SEED = '0123456789'
Note: Only the specified values are validated for the settings in the BMC test environment. You might want to change these values depending on your environment. For the alternative values, see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28530/asoconfg.htm#i1007023.
You can also change these values by using the Oracle Net Manager. For information about Oracle Net Manager, see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/network.111/b28530/asotools.htm#i1006966.
3. Restart the BMC Server Automation application server.
4. (Optional) Use the Wireshark tool (or any other network protocol analyzer) on the BMC Server Automation application server to validate whether the data is encrypted.
