Running Windows Patch Source without Internet Access

Version 2

    You can run the Windows Patch Source channel without the Internet.

    The channel must be connected to Patch Manager to insert the metadata into the patch repository.

    To run the Windows Patch Source channel without the Internet Add the shavlik.metadata.update=false property to the application.txt file of the Windows Patch Source channel in the Tuner directory.

    The property prevents the Windows Patch Source channel from downloading new versions of the Shavlik metadata files.

    Get the following files from the Shavlik site at https://xml.shavlik.com.

    PD4.xml

    hfnetchk5.xml

    hfnetchk.xml

    CommandLine4.exe

    Note: You can also get the CAB files (PD4.cab, hfnetchk5.cab, hfnetchk.cab, CommandLine4.cab) containing these files and manually extract the XML files.

    E.g. Path -> http://xml.shavlik.com/data/HFNetChk5.cab

    Put the files into the PatchInfo folder so the files are used the next time you update the Windows Patch Source channel.

    Generate an mssecure.xml file from the hfnetchk5.xml file by running the -generateMssecure command-line option and put the new file in the PatchInfo folder.
