Remedy – CMDB – CMDB Upgrade/Install fails/stops responding on RHEL 8

    Remedy AR System Server

    AR System 20.02 and CMDB 20.02


    While upgrading/installing Remedy CMDB on a RHEL 8 system the installation fails or just simply stops responding while waiting to execute the following command:

        LOG EVENT {Description=[Executing RIKJ command = LOAD_APPLICATION -c true -f /opt/bmc/remedy/atriumcore/cmdb/en/workflow/adf_objectstore_1.xml -G 14400 -k 0 -l /opt/bmc/remedy/atriumcore -L true -n BMCAtriumCMDB -N 7200 -t 10000 -u Action Request Installer Account -x remar01 -X 21600 ]}
    NOTE: We have seen where the installer just stops responding and never gives a clear “failed” message.  You can confirm this scenario by looking in your atriumcore_install.log to see if it has been “working” on a command for a long period of time.  You can attempt to run the command manually in another terminal on the same system to confirm a failure. 



    The AR System Driver utility that is bundled with the CMDB Installer requires RHEL 7 C libraries, which are not installed or compatible with RHEL 8.


    Run the following commands to create a symbolic link to mimic the old RHEL 7 C libraries, after installing the required prerequisite libraries.

      ln -s /usr/lib64/ /usr/lib64/
    ln -s /usr/lib64/ /usr/lib64/
    ln -s /usr/lib64/ /usr/lib64/
    These might require root access.  Speak to your system admin to confirm. 

    NOTE: If you run the installer and have this error, you will need to restore your system back to a pre-upgrade point before attempting the installation again. 

    NOTE: This is only an option if you're using AR System Server 20.02 and Installing CMDB 20.02.  It will not work with older versions.
