    QUESTION:

    How to view EntityType in TrueSight Infrastructure Management (TSIM) Database for TrueSight Capacity Optimization (TSCO) ETL

    ANSWER:

    Please follow the below steps to have the EntityType of a device in TSIM Database:

    For Windows Machine:

    1 - Run the below query on TSIM DB:

           select TRUNC_TABLENAME from <schemaOwner>. adapter_tablename_map where TABLENAME = '_PATROL__NT_OS';
           (PROACT is the default user schema on DB, replace it if necessary)

    This query should return a truncated view name to be used for Oracle database for TSIM , for example, this query should return a truncated view name to be used for Oracle database for TSOM , for example, _PATROL__NT_33,  attach _CFG_VIEW to this string, so view name becomes, for example "_PATROL__NT_33_CFG_VIEW "
    The resulting Windows entities debugging query to simply to see what’s inside the view, even if not populated properly:

    2 - Run the below query based on above result:

           select DISTINCT DEVICENAME, ENTITYTYPE from PROACT."_PATROL__NT__33_CFG_VIEW";

    Once done, check ENTITYTYPE column to be properly populated: value of ENTITYTYPE should be: Microsoft.StandAlone.

    For Unix Machine:

    1 - Run the below query on TSIM DB:

          select TRUNC_TABLENAME from <schemaOwner >.adapter_tablename_map where TABLENAME= '_PATROL__UNIX_OS'

    This query should return a truncated view name to be used for Oracle database for TSIM , for example, _PATROL__UNI_23,  attach _CFG_VIEW to this string, so view name becomes, for example “_PATROL__UNI_23_CFG_VIEW”.

    2 - Run the below query based on above result:

          select DISTINCT DEVICENAME, ENTITYTYPE from <schemaOwner >."_PATROL__UNI_23_CFG_VIEW"

    Once done, check ENTITYTYPE column to be properly populated: value of ENTITYTYPE should be:

    • Linux.StandAlone for a Linux machine
    •
    • SunZone.Host: for a Solaris virtualization zone host
    •
    • SunZone.Virtual_Machine: for a Solaris zone VM
    •
    • Sun.Ldom.Primary.Host: for a Solaris virtualization LDOM host
    •
    • Sun.Ldom.Primary.Virtual_Machine: for a Solaris LDOM VM
