    QUESTION:

There are Execution Plans in an older version of App Visibility Portal, and there is a newer App Visibility version in another environment.  Is there an option to export and import Execution Plans from an older App Visibility Portal version to a newer App Visibility Portal version?

    ANSWER:

The Execution Plans is tightly coupled with the application that was defined within the TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) console, which means that it is tightly coupled with TSPS as well.  There is a Synthetic Application Programming Interface (API) that retrieves and saves Execution Plans, but it cannot be used to export and import Execution Plans separately since the Execution Plans is a symbiotic object.  And there is not an option to download (or save) the Execution Plans from the TSPS console.

Any attempt to export/import or transfer Execution Plans from one App Visibility Portal to another App Visibility Portal will result in deletion of all Synthetic applications.

The Execution Plans are defined by data model, and the only way to ensure data model changes were safely applied is to perform a proper upgrade of the TSPS, App Visibility Manager Portal, and App Visibility Collector.  For example, upgrade from App Visibility Portal version 10.7.00 to 11.0.00.
