BMC Helix Remedyforce: Create entry screening questionnaire in Self Service due to COVID

    My name is Michelle Wettengel and I am a BMC Helix Remedyforce Business Relationship Manager. I have been working with Jeff Snow, Interim CIO and Director of IT Operations at SUNY Schenectady County Community College since they purchased BMC Helix Remedyforce in March 2019.

    Jeff came onboard shortly after SUNY Schenectady County Community College purchased BMC Helix Remedyforce as their ITSM solution.   Jeff has worked with BMC Helix Remedyforce with two previous companies so, due to his skill and expertise, he was able to self-implement and get the solution up and running before students returned for the start of the Fall semester.

    Thinking outside of the box for business use case solutions

    During this unprecedented time, with the college looking to semi reopen, SUNY Schenectady County Community College needed a method to electronically track people in and out of the building.  Using BMC Helix Remedyforce in an innovative way Jeff found he could use the solution to assist with the schools COVID screening process.

     

    Create entry screening questionnaire due to COVID

     

    Description of Change:

    Administration needed an APP to enter answers to a questionnaire covering information about person’s exposure to COVID before entering the building. We did not have in house expertise for making a quick APP. I looked at MS Power Apps but there was a desire to “alert” a specific person(s) if an individual responded yes to any question. Power APPs only had ability to send notification for a record creation.

    This can be done in Remedyforce by creating a Request Definition and posting on the Self-Service page and/or providing a URL link direct to the item. Then using Workflow rules to decide when and what to email notices and to whom.
