    PRODUCT:

    Fast Path Indexer/EP

    PROBLEM:

IBM APAR PH21632 (PTF UI69113) for IMS 15, delivered as part of RSU/PUT2004, impacts Fast Path Indexer/EP (PFX) initialization in control region and DLISAS address spaces.  Without the corresponding BMC maintenance applied as described below, PFX will fail to initialize in these address spaces (as indicated by messages BMC123130E and BMC123131E), resulting in U3830 ABENDs of the associated started tasks.

    CAUSE:

Implementing changes to IMS 15.1 delivered via IBM PUT2004 without also applying (or having previously applied) corresponding BMC maintenance for Fast Path Indexer/EP (PFX)

    SOLUTION:

PTF BQQ4933 for version 4.01 of BMC's Fast Path Indexer/EP (FMID = ZPFP410) resolves the problem described above and can be implemented prior to IBM's PH21632/PUT2004 maintenance.  Effective July 10, 2020, this PTF is available for download via BMC's eFix PTF Distribution Service, Internet Service Retrieval (ISR), and SMP/E Receive Order.

Note: If BQQ4933 is needed prior to 7/10/2020 or you need this PTF but do not wish to implement version 4.01.00.42 (RSL2010) of the Fast Path/EP Series products at this time, BQQ4933 can be obtained using the sample JCL shown below.

    Reminder:
Regular maintenance for BMC's Fast Path/EP Series products is released in groups of PTFs referred to as bundles, whereby each bundle is dependent upon the application of the previous bundle for the given FMID.  That is, maintenance for these products is cumulative.

Sample JCL that can be used to obtain PTF BQQ4933:
Note: The following changes must be made before using this sample JCL:
    1. Add a JOBCARD appropriate for your site.
    2. Change high level qualifier "hlq" to an appropriate value for your site.
    3. Change "mine@bmc.com" to your email address in the RETRIEVE step.
    4. Remove the blank line just prior to the DLETTRS step, if desired.
