    PRODUCT:

    Track-It!

    COMPONENT:

    Track-It! 2020 R1

    APPLIES TO:

    Track-It! 20.xx

    PROBLEM:

After running Network Discovery in Track-It! 20.xx, the operating system is listed as ‘Multimedia Peripheral Device’ on the assets.

    CAUSE:

Invalid SMB credentials or missing discovery credentials

    SOLUTION:

Follow the below steps to troubleshoot this issue:

Step 1: Verify if the correct credentials are provided in the Scan configurations
The scan configuration should have correct credentials for the respective protocols we use for scanning purpose.

    • SMB (Windows devices)
    •
    • SSH (Linux / Mac)
    •
    • SNMP (For network devices such as switches, routers etc)
    •
    • VSphere (for VMWare V Sphere servers)

Step 2) Re-verify the credentials if they are present in the scan configuration in Track-It! and in BCM after they are saved.

Step 3) Verify if the scan is failing or succeeding on SMB protocol. If scan has failed on SMB then the OS name will not be correct.
