    COMPONENT:

    TrueSight Automation Console

    APPLIES TO:

TrueSight Automation Console and Helix Automation Console

    QUESTION:

Why REST API calls throw 401 Error "Unauthorized"?

    ANSWER:

For the REST API to work you first have to get an authorized session. Please refer Automation Console documentation link for getting an authorized session:
    https://docs.bmc.com/docs/display/tsac2002/Using+REST+API

You get this Error 401 Unauthorized when the session is not authorized.

We also have a defect in the product where you can put wrong or dummy values to authorize (without proper bearer token) and then you will always get this error.
To make sure you always copy the proper bearer token and then authorize.

    Defect details:
DRSMP-3197 - Session Authorize is successful for any dummy value in bearer token
