    QUESTION:

How to write a Catalog Manager for Db2 report into a data set

    ANSWER:

Any Catalog Manager list or report may be written to the print data set of Catalog Manager.

To set or verify the name of the print data set in Catalog Manager, invoke the Options Menu (action 4 in main menu).
In the Options Menu select option 4 (Dataset names) with Y and enter name of the print data set (for example “&ZUSER..BMCCAT.PRINT”).

To write a Catalog Manager list or report to this data set, enter >print in the command line of the list.
The > sign is required as a command recognition character for Catalog Manager. Otherwise the command would be executed as an ISPF command.

Additional print output is appended to the data set.

The print data set is closed and deallocated by one of the following actions:

    • Leave Catalog Manager
    •
    • Enter >print close command
