unable to consume webservices over https in mid-tier 20.02

    PROBLEM:

    Calling a webservice using soapui or any other HTTP client over https where the endpoint url is on a Remedy Mid-Tier 
    will cause an http 500 response
    with this stack trace 
     javax.servlet.ServletException: https is forbidden
        org.apache.axis2.transport.http.AxisServlet.preprocessRequest(AxisServlet.java:673)
        org.apache.axis2.transport.http.AxisServlet.doPost(AxisServlet.java:149)
       
    Users may call the WSDL url fine and even navigate on midtier using https without noticing this problem 
     


    CAUSE:

    axis2.xml file is missing some configurations


    SOLUTION:

    find axis2.xml file on midtier/WEB-INF folder

       
    1. open the file with a text editor such as notepad++ or textpad
    2.  
    3. find the tag   <axisconfig name="AxisJava2.0">
    4.  
    5. below this tag enter <transportReceiver name="https" class="org.apache.axis2.transport.http.AxisServletListener"></transportReceiver>
    6.  
    7. save the file
    8.  
    9. restart tomcat 
    or 
    use the axis2.xml file that is attached to this article
